Journey Lab background

The Journey Lab was an output of the Experience Innovation team, which was formed to serve as an internal consultancy within Comcast to explore emerging markets and opportunities in order to help form a strategic direction and north star vision for new products and services. I joined this multidisciplinary team as a UX design SME in addition to my experience in workshop facilitation, user research, and product strategy.

the Multi-Dwelling Unit (MDU) Opportunity

The project outlined here was a little less than a quarter’s worth of work, focused on the Multi-dwelling unit (MDU) market which encompasses a diverse set of communities that includes apartment buildings, retirement communities, and college dorms. It was clear to the business that this area warranted a holistic strategy, but no work had been done to explore the competitive landscape.

What we created

This project began with an extensive research phase to understand how the MDU business currently works within Comcast as well as the overall competitive landscape. We then ran an extensive series of design thinking workshops involving internal stakeholders to brainstorm new concepts and build buy-in. The final output was a strategy deck like the one included here, which summed up our findings and presented leadership with a roadmap for a new offering that would build upon and enhance the existing business.
