Music Discovery Journey

How do people discover and acquire music in the streaming era? Fernando de Buen Lopez and I set out to find the answer to this question using ethnographic research and contextual interviews with music listeners. We focused on interviewing extreme users in this space, from analog-only listeners digging in the crates to full digital natives torrenting and streaming their music. Our research led us to the creation of an experience model for the music discovery process as well as several key consumer behaviors.
